Training teachers on identification of Mental Health Issues in Students:

The general perception is that teachers should teach children how to read and write. And build the strong foundation for children to pursue higher education. The schools' responsibility is not just to teach reading and writing. But also help children to adjust to everyday life situations. Importantly which includes social and emotional learning and wellbeing. Most of the teacher preparation courses focus on pedagogy and curriculum. There is lot of goodness if teachers could also be prepared to understand and identify common Mental health disorders. If a child is unable to concentrate in class, its not only because of subject being taught. But also about factors such as family situations, peer situations, career planning, genetic issues and so on. What Is Mental Health? Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. How to make class interesting:

1. Teacher should Prepare for class at least before one day. 2. Teacher should prepare children for life not just for exams. 3. Remember three key elements during preparation for class. - content (what you teach) - Process (how you teach) - class room environment (good lighting, fresh air, no external noise in class). 4. Make children understand the purpose of learning the particular lesson. 5. Introduce concept before getting into the whole topic. (E.g. when you teach angles in maths, tell them how vital it is for pilots, civil engineers). 6. Giving simple and well connected examples. 7. Indentifying and Keeping an eye on slow learners. Slow learners might require many examples to understand new topics. 8. Some hyper active children might seem to disturb your class. Make them your friends and show them how it distracts other classmates. 9. Just think why children like to see cricket match for 300 minutes but not interested to attend class for 30 minutes.      Early childhood education is a broad term used to describe any type of educational program that serves children in their preschool years. Early childhood education may consist of any number of activities and experiences designed to aid in the cognitive and social development of preschoolers before they enter elementary school. Early childhood education programs may be designed for three-, four-, or five-year olds, and they may be provided in childcare, daycare, nursery school, preschool settings. One of the first government funded early childhood education initiatives in the U.S. was the Head Start program, which was created in 1965. This federally funded education initiative, which is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, provides children from low-socioeconomic families or those who qualify under a specific at-risk category with free access to early childhood education programs. The other government funded program was started in India called as ' Anganwad
