The 1835 Milestone "Formal modern medical education in India began in 1835 with two landmark institutions: Medical College, Calcutta, and a medical school in Madras. These institutions marked the official shift toward standardized, allopathic medical training under British administration." 3. Before the M...

What can my child study other than engineering degree:

Very Thoughtful advice... Just because I am holding a senior position in HR, I have been getting many requests from my relatives, friends, acquaintances, to help their sons or daughters, who have freshly passed out from engineering college, to get job in my company. The number of requests are huge. So many fresh engineers are unemployed, I could hardly helped only few of them to get job in my very successful company or in some other companies where I have contacts. I feel bad to say NO to many of the requests or for those whom I can't help. They get disappointed... I can understand. Parents invest their life time earned money just to see their sons or daughters getting degree in engineering. They think that jobs are easily available for engineers. After interviewing many of them, I can't even tell them that your son or daughter do not even have minimum required technical knowledge. Getting first class or distinction has become so easy without having fundamental knowledge of e...

What leads to a happy life?

 - This is an interesting article summarising the below diagram. If you look at the above diagram description we can see two ways of looking at success, one angle thinks salary and job title will bring happiness and the second angle also considers salary and job title but these two things are only part of life, there are many things in addition to it, I.e physical health (healthy food, excercise, physical work etc), mental health (emotional regulation, anger management, relationship management etc), doing what you like, and free time to enjoy your hobbies and passion. In addition, also a career which gives you happiness, and the career which itself becomes your kind of hobby. There is a saying 'a person will be able to give his best only in the job which he loves'. It is important not only to get a job and good salary but also to know where we can fit best. If you go to any classroom, famously you can hear children telling two aspirations of their career, i.e engineer and doc...

Entrance exam coaching centers and a caution for parents:

- You would have stared at the article heading by seeing Crores, Google and age 6 written on the thumbnail picture of the article. This is how sometimes parents get misled by ads regarding coaching classes which charge lakhs of rupees as fee and promise an impossible success, which is 200% impossible to be achieved by all children, instead a small percentage of children might achieve the advertised target. Many parents want their children to get into good professions when they grow up. For the children to get into good professions, they need to get a good education, in order to get a good education they need to get into good universities/academies, in order to get into a good university/academy a child has to get a good competitive entrance exam score. In order for children to get a good competitive exam score, children have to get good foundational education and training. Thus parents put lakhs of rupees into the competitive exams coaching classes, hoping to see the magic. Many coach...
