#EducationForAll- Simplifying online education:

- (Don’t forget to watch an amazing video at the end of the publication)

When we hear the word ‘Online Education’, what does come to our mind? Smartphone, laptop, Zoom, Meet, Webex, Teams etc. etc. and whatnot. Are these only sources of online reach for the children’s education? The life is easy, it’s how we perceive it makes it harder.

Today we are struck with a global pandemic, because of which our priorities have reorganised. The way we were educating until now is taking different turns. The classrooms are being made virtual, replacing blackboard and chalk. And there are few schools who have decided to completely shut down the teaching and learning until the things are back to normal. As we said in our previous articles, now it’s going to be ‘New Normal’.

Currently, our focus is on reaching parents and children through smartphone or laptop. But believe me, we cannot reach 100% of the population with these hi-tech facilities. What about the parents who do not have an ever active SIM card, or who are with only a basic mobile phone.

If we have a will and intention, we can do an all-inclusive education just with a basic mobile phone of parents. These kinds of children's learning and platform can be our 'Plan B'.

In this publication, we are presenting to you an advertisement from the 'Idea' telecom company, which did telecast this advertisement way back in the year 2008. I feel proud that the people behind the advertisement script did get this idea of reaching children even in the remotest part of the country. And this advertisement clearly shows what an energetic educator and a true teacher can do to educate each child. #EducationForAll, AllForEducation

Instead of explaining everything over here, we would like you to explore a 2-minute advertisement, I challenge you that as a school stakeholder you will infuse confidence within you with the power of unlimited. Don’t cry, this video might get you emotional.

Kya Idea Sir Ji…

Seven key differences between Parenting in India and Dutch:

 - A Dutch mother, Ivana, recently shared her experiences living in Mumbai for nine years, highlighting seven key differences between parenting in India. She emphasises that neither approach is "better" or "worse," but rather they involve different trade-offs.  Key Differences in Parenting: According to her viral reflections on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWJv7RLDM-z/), the primary contrasts include: * Community vs. Solo Marathon: In the Netherlands, parenting often feels like a "solo marathon". In Mumbai, she experiences a "real village" where family, neighbours, and the building community are always available to help. * Independence vs. Interdependence: Dutch culture raises children to be "fierceley independent," such as cycling to school alone at age eight. Indian parenting focuses on interdependence and being part of a larger, supportive system. * Child-Friendly Public Spaces: She notes that children in India are acce...

As parents and educators, we play a crucial role in nurturing these qualities. Online Schools and eclectic curriculum:

 - Online schools, while offering flexibility and accessibility, come with several disadvantages, particularly when they employ a mixed eclectic curriculum. An "eclectic curriculum" typically means drawing from various teaching philosophies and methods, aiming to personalize learning. While this sounds good in theory, in an online setting, it can lead to unique challenges. Here are the disadvantages of online school, especially one offering a mixed eclectic curriculum: I. General Disadvantages of Online School:  * Lack of Face-to-Face Interaction and Social Isolation:    * Reduced Engagement: Students miss out on spontaneous discussions, immediate feedback, and the dynamic energy of a physical classroom.    * Isolation: The absence of in-person interaction with peers and instructors can lead to feelings of loneliness, reduced motivation, and a diminished sense of community.    * Limited Social Skill Development: Opportunities for developing crucia...

How do children develop sense of self-discipline & self-control:

 - How do children develop sense of self-discipline & self-control, explanation with examples: Children develop self-discipline and self-control gradually over time, through a combination of internal development and external guidance.  It's a process, not an instant switch, and it requires patience and consistency. Here's how it generally works, with examples: 1. Modeling and Observation: Children learn by watching the adults and older children around them.   If they see adults practicing self-control (e.g., waiting patiently in line, managing their emotions calmly), they're more likely to adopt those behaviors. Example:  A parent consistently puts away their phone during dinner and engages in conversation. The child observes this and begins to do the same, even when tempted by their own device. 2. Consistent Boundaries and Expectations: Clear, age-appropriate rules and expectations provide a framework for children to understand what is acceptable behavior. ...

REOPENING THE SCHOOL- SOME SUGGESTIONS (Suggestions via- IIEP_UNESCO):

- The COVID19 pandemic has led to another crisis of reasonable ideas in order to resolve all sorts of emerging issues in front. Educational plannings in times of crisis seem to be another challenge because of the judgmental dilemma about the importance of education as well as health.  However, focusing on balancing the importance of both the aspects- education and health is focal. What and how implementable plannings could be done is the big question to be responded by most of the concerned authorities and stakeholders. Currently, school founders, principals, administrators and concerned heads are considering many ways to win this situation.  There are very key areas which the school leaders should consider- Finance, Infrastructure and Human resources. Here we are discussing some ideas and suggestions that have been addressed regarding the reopening of the schools (Please refer the full resource from UNESCO at the end of this article).  Image source: ChristopherSalem 1.
