Introduction:
Since education is a diverse and dynamic process deeply
connected to various contextual aims and aspirations, homeschooling can be
specified as far as the flexibility of all parental aspirations. Method of homeschooling can be classified into various types such as Classical methods,
Charlotte Mason method, Montessori method, Unschooling method, School at-home,
Unit Studies and Eclectic education method. These methods carry different
distinct qualities and approaches to initiation.
The classical method of homeschooling is one of the most
aspired and imagined method of homeschoolers as it allows meeting all
individual-based goals of knowledge for each child. Moreover, it is also more
practical and scientific in today’s dynamic education system where parents have varied aims for their children.
Benefits
of the classical method of homeschooling-
1. Reading skills: Classical
method of homeschooling system encourages the children to boost their reading
skills as it is denoted by the reading of various illustrative books. The idea
of this method is about facilitating children with plenty of books so that
children pick-up any series of books and read independently. Thus, homeschooling would have benefits of language development for their children as enormous facilitation of books are provided by the homeschoolers.
2. Primary
and secondary aims of child’s education: Education
of children totally concentrate on essential developmental aspects such as
physical, social, mental and life skills. These domain based development for
each child is focused to have them shaped before sending the children to the
school. In fact, the subject-based learning for children is not the primary
goal to aspire but it is a secondary goal.
However, the classical method of homeschooling comprises both primary and secondary aims of child’s education. So that children grow up to be a balanced individual.
3. Influences
critical thinking skills: In conventional settings of education, it is tough to come up with critical thinking skill approaches. In addition,
critical thinking demands enormous scientific approaches to activities. Thus
our outdated conventional approach of education does not facilitate such an
environment. In contrary, this classical method of homeschooling is capable of
placing an environment where children go through various independent initiated
activities resulting in lots of critical thinking inputs.
4. Flexibility:
Flexibility is about how much of suitable way to go about in terms of practices
and experiences. This method enables children to have learned in their own way.
In addition, it is not mere time allocation because here, children do not need
to focus on any timing and scheduling. Thus, all homeschoolers term it a most
flexible as they are able to go through their capacities.
5. Choices:
The choice of deciding things such as theory and practices, aims and goals is
one of the foremost parts of every educational setting. It has also a significant
role in terms of achieving the aspired targets. Thus, the classical method of
homeschooling facilitates complete choices of contextualizing and
implementations. Moreover, homeschoolers are given autonomy in terms of designing the activities.
Conclusion:
As far as the needs of today’s liberal context, a classical model of homeschooling
is the most appropriate educational type. It empowers every individual to
think and reflect on their aspirations. And today’s neo-liberal philosophy of
education is significantly embedded with this type of homeschooling model.
