“Lockdown” affect on the Community during the COVID19 pandemic- The ground report by Azim Premji Foundation Telangana
- The people are worldwide aware that COVID19 pandemic has affected millions of people not only public health but also all sorts of social lives regardless of any social and economic differences. This pandemic era also seems to be a new experience for this current generation. And now we are accepting it by naming it as 'New Normal'. This era is about life battle and every nation is putting their best efforts in order to protect people from the impact of COVID19 and also taking steps to prevent deaths related to COVID19.
However, “Lockdown” has been opted as a first priority in order to prevent the outbreak of the virus which is, in fact, a major cause of mental trauma too. This pandemic has led to many virus-related deaths worldwide. Out of many concerns during lockdown hunger is also a concern which many countries are facing. India seems to be one of the worst victims of lockdown than actual COVID19 as millions of homeless as well as migrant labourers have suffered. The major crisis of lockdown that hits the poorest people in the country is about the lack of food and malnutrition for women and children.
We are sharing a field report by Azim Premji Foundation. This report is prepared by the Early Childhood Education team of foundation located at Sangareddy, Telangana, India. This Foundation team while preparing the report has consulted government functionaries, Anganwadi teachers, and community members.

The report is named as, 'Pandemic Response- Field Stories from Telangana'. This field report reflects two major facts in this regards.
· 1. Food crisis: Millions of daily wage labourers have suffered due to the shortage of foods as their works have been dissolved. To prevent them from hunger some humanitarian organizations and the group of volunteer workers have distributed some basic need commodities.
· 2. Women and Child care: Children are always vulnerable and are more vulnerable during the time of distress. This worldwide lockdown has isolated the millions of children from various nourishing centres like Anganwadi and daycare centres. Most of the organizations have supported them to have nutritional foods.
