Plastic For Padhai-

We all have been paying fee towards our child's schooling, have you seen a school getting the plastic waste instead of a fee. This is a very wonderful concept of a village school in the Indian state of Assam very close to Guwahati. This school is known as Akshar School, which started in 2016. This school has got a very impressive campus setup.

Every day while coming to the school children have to carry a bag of plastic waste from home and once the children bring the plastic waste, the waste is utilised for the school campus too in multiple ways. Weekly a child has to bring 25 plastic waste items. The school has a strength of 110 children. Yearly in an average, the school gets 1.2 lakhs plastic waste items. The teenagers of the school make eco-bricks from the plastic. Through this initiative, the parents are also getting awareness about plastic waste.

The school is different in its approach, compared to regular schools. This school has inter-student learning concept, where senior kids teach junior kids. And for teaching these junior kids, the school pays remuneration to the senior kids in a very unique way (Watch the video in the below link to explore). And when it comes to technology, Yes, the Akshar school has embraced technology for its students.

The founders of the school believe that social issues advocacy should be part of education. And they expect that other schools too follow their path.
