- The term sensitivity is something connected to the emotional reactions of a child. If a child gets hurt emotionally and results in sudden behavioural changes such as dislikes of surprises, feeling shy with the strangers, clingy, staying alone etc, is termed as a sensitive child.
In fact, sensitivity is the consequence of highly emotional disorders. It could be due to the inappropriate acts of adults towards the children. Dealing with children in such situations is a very critical challenge that requires lots of psychological competencies. We as guardians and parents should avoid few behaviours towards children if a child is recognized to be sensitive.

· Never try to change your child: Sensitivity is natural so, trying to change the child with negative parenting approach might harm the children critically. Instead, parenting must be of appreciation towards a child’s positive aspects.
· Don’t be impatient: Sensitivities are caused by different inappropriate factors such as scolding, criticizing, pains, socialization etc. It is difficult for the children to adapt to the new environment and situations and thus, it requires enough time in terms of making them comfortable in any difficult or strange situation. Parent as caretaker should have patience over a child’s behavioural changes.
· Don’t suppress the child’s emotions: As the sensitive children have to go through multiple challenges in terms of compromising with the environment, it is not appropriate to force or suppress them expecting to come up with sudden change and adjustable condition. Instead, try to create an adjustable environment where a sensitive child can express his personal point of view and enjoy freely.
· Don’t get upset over a sensitive child.
· Don’t bend the rules that have been scheduled which might lead to further behavioural changes in future. Just be confined with the previous rules so that your child might have extra skills in terms of compromising with the situations.
